“Don’t get me wrong, I love my Birk Clogs, but with winter approaching, I needed a closed shoe. I work in an elementary school and I’m frequently on my feet for long periods of time, so I wanted something that would provide support but offer more warmth than a sandal.

That’s when I found the Birkenstock London shoes and decided to try them out. They look great, the suede feels very nice, and the footbed works just like a Birk should. There’s really only one flaw, and that’s the sizing process, which can be a little tricky. However, this isn’t my first pair of Birkenstocks, and I have a tip for finding the right size.

There are plenty of Birkenstock London types to choose

My sandal size is a 7.5, and my Birk size of 38 fit flawlessly for my clogs, but the same size in the London was too small. The footbed didn’t quite line up, and as I learned with my sandals, that meant the footbed wouldn’t properly adjust to my feet. Even worse, having an ill-fitting Birk will quickly wear out the footbed, and it won’t provide the right pressure support. I swapped for a size 39 and the fit was perfect.

Most people seem to think that their Birk size is a set number, but it can actually vary from shoe to shoe. Instead of settling for shoes that almost fit perfectly, if you pay more attention to the way your foot fits in the footbed rather than how tight or loose the shoe feels, you’ll have a better idea of how the shoe will form around your foot over time.

“I work in an office, and I needed something stylish and supportive for my day to day shift. I usually wear a 9, and I was advised to purchase a 38 in the London, but I like my shoes loose to leave room for thick socks, so I decided to try one size up. So far, I am loving these shoes. They hold up to the 9 to 5 grind, and they just keep getting better with age.

Not only does the fit improve with time, but the shoes actually look better after a little wear and tear. I prefer darker outfits, so I went with the color gunmetal, and I am very satisfied with my purchase. If you prefer to dress differently than me, the London is available in multiple colors, and no matter what shade you choose, these shoes will definitely flow with any hippy sense of style.

With that being said, I do wish they came in half sizes. I’m glad I went a size up or there would be no room for my thick socks, and the socks definitely help the fit, but I feel like a half size would be perfect. I have a petite frame, and I definitely have feet that are smaller than average, but even I couldn’t wear the narrow London.

These shoes will make your feet look bigger. I like that, but if that’s a concern for you, it’s definitely something to keep in mind. Though I don’t think the shoes are so big that they look unordinary.

I think they look great. As long as you take the time to find the perfect size for you, these shoes will not disappoint.”

Comfort and Stability:

“This is my first pair of Birkenstocks and definitely won’t be my last. Finding the right size was difficult. But the quality of this shoe and the comfort it provides makes up for the hassle.

My friends told me that these shoes run large but ordering up didn’t work for me. I also tried the narrow, but that felt even worse.

I tried multiple sizes, and either the shoes were too tight. Or my foot was much further back than it felt like it should have been.

Finally, I found a size with a footbed that really fit my foot. That, rather than the size system, is how I found the right size for me. They are just a little loose, though.

It’s important to note that while the London is different than Birkenstocks’ regular Clogs, the London is still a Clog. They do feel a bit like flip flops, but the comfort and stability they give can’t be beat. Compared to other brands of Clogs on the market, these shoes offer more stability without extra strain on your feet.

Avoid ordering a narrow unless you really have narrow feet. I wish they offered a slim version of the London that wasn’t narrow. Maybe something a little less bulky on top, and the fit is a little bit loose, but finding a perfect fit in shoes has always been difficult for me.

Even with a slightly loose fit, I would advise the Birkenstock London to anyone looking for a comfortable and stable shoe for normal, everyday use.”
